You can delete your BeGrocer account and associated personal data at any time. This page explains both the in-app and email routes for requesting deletion, what data is removed, what we must keep by law, and how long the process takes.
1. Delete Your Account from the App
- Open the BeGrocer app and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Select Account Settings, then Delete Account.
- Choose a reason (optional) and confirm with the one-time password sent to your number.
- Your account is deactivated immediately and queued for permanent deletion, and you receive a confirmation message.
2. Request Deletion by Email
If you no longer have access to the app, email support@begrocer.app from the email address registered on your account with the subject line "Account Deletion Request", and include:
- The mobile number registered with your BeGrocer account.
- Your full name as it appears on the account.
- Confirmation that you want the account and associated data deleted.
We verify ownership of the account before acting on any request, usually by sending a one-time password to the registered number.
3. Data That Is Deleted
- Your profile: name, email address, mobile number and login credentials.
- Saved delivery addresses and delivery instructions.
- Saved carts, wishlists, product preferences and stored location data.
- Marketing preferences, referral links and promotional credits.
- Device identifiers and push notification tokens linked to your account.
- Support conversation history not required for an open dispute.
4. Data That Is Retained
Certain records must be retained even after deletion, in a form disconnected from your profile wherever possible:
- Invoices, tax records and transaction data, retained for up to eight years as required by Indian tax and accounting law.
- Records connected to fraud investigations, chargebacks, legal claims or law-enforcement requests, retained until the matter is closed.
- Aggregated and anonymised analytics that cannot be linked back to you as an individual.
5. Deletion Timeline
- Immediately: the account is deactivated and you can no longer sign in or place orders.
- Within 7 days: a grace period during which you can contact support to restore the account.
- Within 30 days: personal data is permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymised across our production systems.
- Within 90 days: encrypted backups containing the data are cycled out and overwritten.
6. Before You Delete
- Complete or cancel any active orders; deletion does not cancel an order in progress.
- Use any remaining wallet balance or credits — they are forfeited and are not refundable.
- Download or note any invoices you may need for personal records.
- Deletion is permanent after the grace period and order history cannot be restored.
7. Alternatives to Deletion
If you only want fewer messages, you can turn off promotional notifications and emails in Profile → Notifications, and remove saved addresses or payment methods individually, while keeping your order history and account intact.
8. Questions and Escalation
For help with a deletion request, or to check its status, contact support@begrocer.app. Requests are acknowledged within 48 hours and completed within 30 days, as described above.
